Rafa Benitez keen to return as Liverpool football manager
24th March 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Former Liverpool football manager Rafa Benitez has revealed that he would be keen on a return to Anfield.
The Spaniard said it would be "a dream" to get the chance to manage the Reds in soccer games again, although he admitted that current boss Kenny Dalglish is doing a good job.
Benitez spent six seasons at Anfield before leaving last summer to take a job as football manager of Internazionale.
However, while Benitez suffered an unsuccessful period in Italy, Liverpool were finally sold and now have some funds to compete in the transfer market – an issue that soured the end of the Spaniard's tenure.
"I am really proud of being the manager of Liverpool Football Club and I would like to come back in the future. It would be a dream," he said.
The former Valencia coach is now keen for a return to England but admits that out of respect for Liverpool he would not consider posts at Manchester United or Everton.
Benitez won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 but failed to land the domestic league title that the club last won in 1990.
