16th May 2011 - Alma Shera

Soccer manager Walter Smith has left Rangers after he won the Scottish Premier League with the club for the third time in succession

The Scot departed Rangers after his second spell as manager and confessed that he is doing so with a sense of regret.

He said: "I'll always have a regret. I had a regret when I was actually arguing with myself about whether to do it or not.

"Yes, there will be a regret but I still think it's the right thing."

Rangers secured the title after a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox, with Kyle Lafferty scoring a hat-trick.

Steven Naismith and Nikica Jelavic also scored for the champions.

Meanwhile, Celtic finished in second place after they comfortably beat Motherwell 4-0.

Gary Hooper and Georgios Samaras both netted in the first half, before Shaun Maloney and Paddy McCourt completed the scoring.
