Rooney: Liverpool will be a threat this season
25th July 2011 - Sigvard Magnus
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has admitted that Liverpool will pose a significant threat in football games over the next season.
The 25-year-old said the club has made some excellent signings over the transfer period, including Charlie Adam from Blackpool, Stewart Downing from Aston Villa and Sunderland's Jordan Henderson.
"I am sure they will be fighting harder than they ever have done to be up there. They will think they have a chance of winning the title," he stated.
According to the England international, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool will all be in the race for the Premier League top spot next season.
However, he confirmed Manchester United will be difficult to beat, noting that young signings such as goalkeeper David De Gea and defender Phil Jones will bring new hunger to the side.
United won their 19th league title last season, securing the trophy with a game to spare after a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
