Porto clinch the Europa League

19th May 2011 - Chad Lazarus

Porto were crowned winners of the Europe League in Dublin last night (May 18th) after beating Braga 1-0 in a cagey tie.

The only goal of the game came from Falcao, who headed home a Fredy Guarin cross in the 44th minute to score what proved to be the game's decisive moment.

Commenting after the match, Porto manager Andre Villas Boas said: "This has a huge emotional impact for us. Round after round, we kept believing more. Porto becomes an even more special club, even more unique.

"It adds another trophy, which is important and builds its future."

Porto's win only adds to their impressive season, with the Portuguese team winning their domestic league and remain on course for a treble, as they come up against Guimaraes in the Portuguese Cup on Sunday (May 22nd).

After the game, Villas Boas said that he will remain with Porto this summer.
