Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
When I was a lad...
I found myself this morning on a train hurtling towards Nottingham at a steady 120mph playing FS on-line through the train's wifi network alongside players from America, Argentina, Australia and the fellow early risers from Europe. Then I cast my mind back 10 years ago to playing Quake on my 28.8k modem with a ping of 320 on a good day, and heavens forbid you even tried to play alongside anybody outside of the UK.
Oh how times have changed.

Just where will we be in 10 years time? Will we not have made much of a leap forward? Will we pretty much be where we are now with very little advancement? Or will we be stood in our FS BubblesTM, the giant self contained LCD monitor-lined human size hamster ball, playing Football Superstars 2 in a total virtual reality.
Smelling the meat pies from the crowd by use of the FS BubblesTM unique smellivisionTM.
Seeing a full virtually rendered version of BigBubbs jumping up and down shouting for a pass out the corner of our eye and choosing to ignore him as we take a few more steps forward and make our advance on the keeper.
Seeing the keeper has come off his line so we go for the audacious chip and it dips off the underside of the bar and goes in, at this point the fully licensed THX Dolby Digital 143.1 sound incorporated into the FS BubbleTM rips your ears to shreds and leaves you juddering on the floor with its 1200 decibel chants of "Smogboy! Smogboy!"
For those days when we are feeling a little lethargic we set up the FS Android linked to our brainwaves to do our running for us.
Reality check
I highly doubt the above, but then at the same time it really wouldn't surprise me with the growth of the internet and its associated technologies over the last ten years and also the growth of on-line worlds, both in terms of the number of them and their financial gains over the last 5 years, then something like the FS BubbleTM perhaps isn't as far reaching as it first may appear.
Who out there honestly thought, when we were chuckling away at people on Dance Dance Revolution or thinking "god, you look like a moron" watching someone ducking behind cover as if their life depended on it in Time Crisis, that less than a few years later we would be having a few tipples on a Friday night swinging wild punches at a TV screen trying to knock our friends out on the Wii, or be leaping around your living room whilst the missus is out busting the new sofa as you leap off it Guitar Hero, limited edition Les Paul wireless controller in hand trying to beat your 97% expert score on Dragonforce's - Through The Fire And The Flames, or heavens forbid actually using a console to exercise with!
Could the FS BubbleTM or something along those lines really be here in ten years time? Or possibly a space to truly live within a virtual world? Will we have androids playing our games for us and relaying the images to us via some weird brain wave device or will we be exactly where we are now just with faster processors and 5GB graphics cards?
