Darth Vader's Bathroom
Things are pretty exciting right now. We’re preparing for Beta and that means getting a load of new servers set up and ready for testing. Why is this so exciting? Well, it’s a case of Darth Vader’s Bathroom.
I first heard the term a couple of years ago whilst attending a conference. Intrigued, I asked what it was. It was a term used to describe the set up of the servers within a Data Centre – all dark, sleek and with little flashing lights on them.
They are arranged, with complete precision, in racks with all of the cabling carefully tidied away. It looks, as someone said, like Darth Vader’s Bathroom.
But what is in this inner sanctum of the Vader? In our case, it’ll be the life and soul of Football Superstars. The clean, motionless exterior belies the torrent of activity and conflict beneath.
The tumultuous events that bring football matches to life will come and go without even so much as a special blink or wink of a bright LED. Games will be won, games will be lost but still the Vader’s bathroom remains un-phased.
It’s exciting to think that this pristine array of machines is what will make Football Superstars tick. Let’s hope the Force is strong in this one…
