Superstars League Hit by Foul Play Investigation

In a shocking turn of events which has rocked the world of Football Superstars, it has been confirmed that the Superstars League has been hit by a storm of financial corruption. In the last few days speculation has been rife in the media about the scandal but an official statement was released today by the authorities to put the rumours at ease.

Clubs Forced to Close Doors

While the investigations into financial irregularities are conducted by the financial authorities, a number of Football Superstars Clubs have been temporarily suspended.

Effective from next season the following clubs have been suspended until further notice:

Ambleby Wanderers

Arnington Albion

Everwich Green

Biggleshot County

Cleevepool Athletic

Kronbridge Rovers

Ordchester Park

Staversham Rangers

Smedich Town

Chistlwick City

This means that of the fourteen teams across the towns of Alexander Bay and Clarkswater, the only teams left active will be:

Fretsby Argyle

Milcester United

Ashtun Forest

Calderfax Thistle

Crooked Dealings

These irregularities relate to the affairs of Gio Grabbi, super agent to the Superstars League. Gio is well known for his high-profile transfer dealings across the Football Superstars world.

Grabbi himself was arrested early on Tuesday morning in relation to multiple counts of fraud and allegations of accepting bungs across various deals. He has also been suspended from further activities pending a full investigation.

The FSA is keen to stress that these teams have not been permanently removed or discredited, but have merely been suspended for the duration of the investigation.  A spokesman was reported as saying "corruption is an insidious thing and its effects run deep.  The Superstar League was created with the aim of providing non-stop top quality football.  We will not remove these suspensions until we are convinced that this ideal can be achieved.  While some might see our actions as heavy handed, I'm sure the players and the fans can see the need for this.  I would also like to stress that we have nothing but the deepest gratitude for the support of the players linked to these teams over this time."

Player Transfers

As a result of the events of the last few days the Football Superstars Association (FSA) has had to act fast in order to be ready for the upcoming season. Due to the fact that each player is contracted to the Superstars League rather than an individual club, a system has been implemented whereby current Superstars are transferred from the suspended clubs into others.

Each player's contracts will be registered to their new clubs at the end of this current season.  After that time the FSA will automatically move all players from the suspended clubs to their new clubs.

However, in order to minimise disruption they are advising players to transfer to their chosen club before the season ends.  This will ensure that they will be able to join their club of choice and help them to become acclimatised to their new team mates sooner.

Players in the clubs not under investigation will not be affected. All transfers will be immediate as of the new season. However any Superstar who is not happy with their new club can still hand in a transfer request. By a rule in their contracts, all players are free to move onto any of the clubs who are not caught up in the scandal.

Knock on Effects

So what does this mean for the league?   It is obvious that the competition for the top spot will be fiercer than ever before, with each of the teams working hard to ensure that each of their players gets as much pitch time as possible.

It's safe to say that with such a condensed population we can expect far more games being played than ever before.
