Friedel agrees Spurs move
3rd June 2011 - Berko Tau
Brad Friedel has agreed to play football games for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 40-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League's most respected goalkeepers after successful spells at Blackburn, Liverpool and Aston Villa, who he has left for the London club.
Friedel has played in three World Cup Finals for the United States. In 2008, he broke the record for the highest number of consecutive Premier League appearances, after playing in 167 successive matches.
Tottenham Hotspur football manager Harry Redknapp said: "It is good to have three such experienced top goalkeepers at the Club in Gomes, Carlo and now Brad and it means we have competition for places particularly with the number of games we will hopefully face next year."
Speaking after Friedel's departure, Aston Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner thanked the goalkeeper via the club's website, where he acknowledged the "terrific contribution" he made to the team.
