Buying Clothes

Please wait...

Part of being an International Football Superstar is being in the spotlight and looking good while you're there. The shops of Alexander Bay and Clarkswater stock the finest clothes at prices that only a Football Superstar's wallet can handle.

When you feel that it's time to spend your hard-earned salary on a new look, go and check out your nearest clothes store. It's always a good idea to ask one of the staff to show you their selection. You'll recognize Traders by the icon hovering above them.

When you interact with a Trader, you will see a list of all the items they have available, with a preview of what the item looks like.

Note - Male traders will sell clothes for men and female traders sell clothes for women. You can buy clothing that is not designed for your gender, but be warned that you won't be able to wear it.

Buying and Selling

Once you've found an item of clothing you would like to buy, highlight it in the list and click Buy. After a confirmation box, it will appear in your inventory, ready for you to put on.

If you do not have enough money to buy an item you would like, you can sell an item of clothing to raise cash. To do this, visit a trader and click on the "sell" tab. You will then see a list of clothes you can sell back, at a loss of course. Select the item you want to sell and simply click the "sell" icon. After confirming the sale, your account will be credited with the resale value of the item.

Note that you cannot sell an item you are currently wearing, so take it off before you try to sell.

Changing Clothes

When you wish to change the clothes you are currently wearing, click the Inventory button in your PDA.

The area in the centre displays all of the items of clothing you own. If you have a lot of items, it might be wise to use the filter icons at the top to narrow down the selection and make it easier to find the particular item you're looking for. Hovering the mouse cursor over any item displays its description and some key information about it.

The Tradable box indicates whether you are able to sell this item to a Trader, and the Resale Value tells you how much you will earn by selling it. The Condition data tells you how close the item is to deteriorating and becoming unusable (if applicable). If the item has any buffs associated with it then they will be detailed in the Stats box.

To put on a new garment or remove one you are wearing, simply double-click on its icon.

Journalists

Please wait...

In Football Superstars, your character develops in 2 areas. One of these is the typical experience-based progression, but Football Superstars also has you dealing with the life of a Superstar off the pitch as well as on it.

Fame Levels

There are 28 Fame levels, starting at Local Newcomer and progressing upwards to... well, we'll let you find that out for yourselves. Players accrue Fame Points by playing matches, by hanging out in trendy bars and restaurants in the world and by buying drinks.

These fame points can be spent on interview time with journalists who you'll find on the streets of Alexander Bay and Clarkswater, waiting to talk to the next big thing in the Superstar League.

Journalist Types

Journalists in Football Superstars are similar to their real world counterparts and come in three forms; newspapers, radio, and television. At first the only journalists interested in speaking with you will be those from the local paper, but as your Fame increases, radio reporters will start to take an interest and eventually you'll be getting airtime on the TV stations of the Football Superstars world.

When you interact with a journalist (with a left click) you will see one of two messages, either positive or negative.

This is what you'll hear if the journo in question doesn't think you're quite ready to make the headlines. You can either take their advice to play more matches and hang out in trendier spots, or pay a visit to a less high-profile journalist.

Hopefully, you'll instead see this message:

You can click the cross to cancel and return to the world, or click the tick to continue.

Interview Details

1

Information Panel

This panel gives players a number of important details about your character and the interview itself.

Firstly, you'll see how many minutes you have available to spend in an interview, and how many minutes are needed to reach the next fame grade.

Below this you can click on the arrows to modify the amount of minutes you'd like to spend on the interview. If you have enough fame points, you will be able to select how many minutes of interview you would like and clicking on the large interview button will confirm your choice.

Following this is the total number of minutes you have spent in your Football Superstars career, sorted by the three media categories.

At the very bottom of this section are the interview costs (in Fame Points) per minute as well as the total amount of fame points you possess. You will find that buying fame points is relatively cheap for newspaper interviews, but radio and television journalists will charge you more for the privilege.

The number of unspent fame points that you have available to you is displayed last.

2

Interview history and status

The right hand side of the journalist interview box is the breakdown of your character's fame to date. The three columns refer to each of the media types and the level of completion for each one.

You will see that for each form of media the column is separated into segments of 36. For each 36 minute segment you complete (either in stages or in one go) you will be given a choice of reward.

Rewards

The rewards that you will be offered will vary, but will generally contain a lifestyle reward such as an item of limited clothing, an attribute and a currency or experience reward. The value of these rewards will increase with each 36 minute segment you complete, and further rewards will be available for completing entire rows of television, radio, and newspaper interview segments.

Other Fame Benefits

Fame isn't all about how many pages your face is on, or how many minutes you are seen on TV, it's worth investing in your Fame level because the bars and nightclubs of Alexander Bay and Clarkswater are presided over by bouncers, and if your name's not on the list then you're not getting in! Certain establishments will not allow anyone below a certain Fame level to enter, so if you want to hang out in the most exclusive spots you'll need to be making the headlines on and off the pitch.

Bars, Cafes, Clubs and Restaurants

Please wait...

The Football Superstars world is full of bars, restaurants and nightclubs to hang out in. These make for excellent venues in which to socialise in with other Superstars, but also play an important part in your character development.

As mentioned before, as well as the levels you gain through experience in football matches you also have Fame levels to work on. You do acquire a small amount of Fame by playing in matches, but the best way to get the Fame points flowing quickly is to spend some time at a bar and buy a few drinks.

Getting in

Not all bars have open access to everyone; there are three tiers of exclusivity to the establishments of the Football Superstars world, and if you're not famous enough then the bouncers will refuse to let you in. You can find out if your name's on the list by interacting with a bouncer, they will soon tell you if you're welcome!

Drinks

When you successfully get into a bar, make your way to the bar and have a word with the bartender. This will open up a menu of available drinks.

In bars, you can purchase all sorts of drinks, and each one will affect how many fame points you gain from buying that drink, and how many thirst points you lose as a result. You can only buy drinks when your character is thirsty. Just relax in the bar to get your thirst back slowly. Alternatively, play any game of football to get your thirst back faster.

Note - you can view your thirst level by opening your character sheet from the PDA.
