Leaders in Football
The 7th and 8th of October saw Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge turned into an expo centre for the top brands and products in football. With representatives from all over the world participating, CyberSports were in fine form as they demoed Football Superstars to a hugely engaged audience. While we didn’t steal the show (Richard Scudamore and Lord Triesman did that well enough), we certainly made the impact we were looking to create and generated huge interest in a terrific setting.
Games Press Coverage
We have had loads of coverage appearing all over the gamer press in recent weeks – in both online and print. As we draw closer and closer to launch, this was inevitable, but what we weren’t so sure of was the media’s response to the game, and we can report that it has been nothing short of sensational. If you would like to read the various comments and previews / reviews we have had, please click on the following links to be taken to the relevant articles.
The Knowledge
CyberSports have teamed up with the masters of mini game design, Matmi, to create what has to be the best football quiz game since sliced bread. Based on a familiar format of 1 Question, 4 answers and a certain amount of time within which to answer correctly, this should fox even the most knowledgeable of footy boffins out there. With monthly prizes and gloating rights in “friends leagues” up for grabs, you would be a fool to miss out on this one.
SFC
As you would have seen from recent communications, we have officially partnered with Sheffield FC, the World’s oldest and first Football Team as recognised by FIFA. All of us at Football Superstars recognise exactly how much Sheffield FC have given to the game, and decided that partnering with a team who work by the same values as ourselves, as well as an organisation that has given so much to football would be the perfect fit.

Transfer Window
As the launch of Football Superstars gets ever closer, we are entering a period we are calling the “Transfer Window.” During this period, we are going to be enabling thousands of you to start playing the game. If you think you have what it takes to be a true Football Superstar, simply click here and if you are one of the chosen ones you could be playing in the not-too-distant future.
Football Press Day
Today we’ve been joined in the office by representatives from magazines including Match, Four Four Two, Zoo, Maxim, Talksport, and Loaded to check out Football Superstars.
After presentations from CyberSports CEO Malcolm Clark and Head of Marketing Phil Booker, SteveM fielded questions in a Q&A session.
During the lunch break Pougatch was on hand to quiz our guests, with Four Four Two’s Frank Tennyson coming out on top in a live “Beat Pougatch” – I’m reliably informed the lunch was “great.”
Later on the journos got their hands on the game for a few matches with Zoo’s Matt Mason producing the best move of the day, beating two players before delivering an inch-perfect cross for Georgenius to finish.
Community Event
As you may have read on the forums, earlier this week four of our community’s best contributors were invited to the Monumental Games studio in Nottingham to meet the team behind Football Superstars and to be the first fans to test the game.
Here’s how it happened in their words:
HageneeS:
Last week, suddenly an email appeared in my inbox with the subject: “The Most Exciting Email You’ll Receive Today”. I have to admit, exciting it certainly was. An invite to come down
VIVOX - 3D Positional Voice
We’re very happy to announce that Vivox, the market leader for integrated voice communication services in online games and virtual worlds, will be working with us to implement a 3D positional voice system for Football Superstars.
This means that using a microphone you will be able to communicate with your team-mates on and off the pitch and they will not only be able to hear you, but they will be able to hear where you are in relation to their position.
Communication is vital in football and of course this is also true in Football Superstars.
PUMA
CyberSports has signed a deal with international sportswear company Puma to incorporate their products and branding into the Football Superstars world.
Aspiring Football Superstars will begin their training in a Puma stadium and once they’ve established themselves at a club and earned some money they’ll be able to drop by a Puma store, modeled on the flagship Carnaby Street store, and pick up a pair of Puma’s v1.08 Speed Boots.
Andy Law, head of business development at CyberSports, said: “We are delighted to be working with a globally recognised football brand such as Puma.
