Uruguay triumph at Copa America

25th July 2011 - Alma Shera

Diego Forlan helped Uruguay to victory in the Copa America final yesterday (July 24th), with Livepool's Luis Suarez also registering on the score sheet.

Suarez scored the opener in the 12th minute, before Forlan gave his country a 2-0 lead against Paraguay, marking a wonderful way to celebrate playing 83 international football games.

The ex-Manchester United striker then completed the scoring in the last minute, sealing a 3-0 win for Uruguay with his 31st goal for his country.

Speaking after the game, Forlan said: "My grandfather won it, my father won it and now I have won it. It is a pride for the family.

"Three generations of my family have won this tournament - Forlan will be the last name in history of football."

As a result of the win, Uruguay have now celebrated victory at the Copa America 15 times, setting a new record and overtaking their arch rivals Argentina.
