Roberto Mancini shocked by Sunderland thrashing
4th April 2011 - Alma Shera
The margin of victory in Manchester City's game against Sunderland yesterday (April 3rd) surprised football manager Roberto Mancini.
City won the game comfortably, scoring five goals without conceding, to move back ahead of Chelsea and into third place in the league.
More importantly, the club moved six points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race for a Champions League spot.
Football manager Mancini said he was expecting a strong performance from Sunderland, so for his side to score so many times was unexpected.
He said: "I am surprised but I am happy. It is important that we scored five goals.
"We always play to win. If we continue like this we'll finish very well."
However, City face some tough tests in their upcoming soccer games, with a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool on April 11th being followed by an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley on April 16th.
