De Gea set to finalise Man Utd move?

28th June 2011 - Berko Tau

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea looks set to conclude a deal that will see him play football games for Manchester United in the future.

The 20-year-old will be Edwin van Der Sar's replacement at Old Trafford, after the Dutch keeper decided to retire last season.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has already backed his fellow Spaniard to succeed in the Premier League.

In an interview with La Gaceta, Reina said: "I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper.

"When it becomes official he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper he is."

De Gea recently took part in the European Under-21 Championship, where he helped Spain to win the tournament.

If the deal is concluded, De Gea will not be the first new signing to walk into Old Trafford this summer, as the champions have already recruited Phil Jones and Ashley Young.
