Corinthians' Tevez deal collapses
21st July 2011 - Berko Tau
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will not be playing football games in Brazil next season, after Corinthians pulled out of the deal.
The Argentinean had told the Premier League team that he was seeking to return to South America, leading City to set up a £40 million deal with the Sao Paulo club, but plans have now fallen through.
Corinthians said that it did not have enough time to secure Tevez before the transfer window closed yesterday (July 20th) due to its financial situation and that a payment schedule could not be agreed.
A statement by the Brazilian team said: "We are aware our fans wanted Tevez to join our club again and we hope we can have the player with us in the future."
Manchester City football manager Roberto Mancini had been expected to make substantial efforts to sign Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero, as soon as he rid himself of the forward.
