Manchester United football manager plans summer spree
14th February 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he will be adding to his playing squad in the summer.
The football manager revealed that he tried to add another player in January, but the selling club weren't ready and the deal has been delayed until the summer.
He went on to say that the football world has been "turned on its head" by the billionaire owners at Manchester City and Chelsea.
Sir Alex then explained that Manchester United cannot afford to be left behind.
He said: "For our part, we cannot afford to sit in an ivory tower. We have to face the challenge.
"It is a healthy competition and it goes without saying that we will not shirk it and I don't think we are doing so."
The Red Devils boss is currently on course to win his 12th Premier League title, having gone eight points clear of local rivals Manchester City after beating them 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday (February 12th).
Arsenal sit four points behind the leaders in second place.
