Steven Gerrard 'will be fit' for Sunderland football game
11th July 2011 - Alma Shera
Steven Gerrard will be fit for the opening football game of the Premier League season against Sunderland, claims Liverpool football manager Kenny Dalglish.
The Scot told journalists at a press conference that preparations for the captain's return are well on track, despite the England midfielder not joining the squad for the club's summer tour of China.
According to the Press Association, Dalglish explained: "He has made a fantastic recovery from his operation towards the end of last season.
"He just needs to get the final couple of niggles out of the way and then he will be fit for the start of the season against Sunderland."
Liverpool have secured the services of Blackpool's Charlie Adam for next season, for an undisclosed fee.
He joins early summer signing Jordan Henderson, who could make his full debut against former club Sunderland on the opening day of the season.
Dalglish is also confident that goalkeeper Pepe Reina will be fit for the first game of the 2011/12 season.
