Roberto Mancini targets Sergio Aguero, despite Tevez delays
19th July 2011 - Sigvard Magnus
Manchester City football manager Roberto Mancini is expected to make substantial efforts to sign Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero, as soon as he rids himself of Carlos Tevez.
Corinthians are believed to be the most likely suitors for the Argentine, but official confirmation of a Tevez exit has yet to emerge.
However, there is little doubt that Tevez's fellow countryman is the striker's preferred replacement.
Mancini has hinted that he may start the process of signing Aguero within the "next days".
"I have not spoken to anyone about it, but probably. I think so," the Italian told the Press Association.
Man City midfielder Gareth Barry suggested that, if Tevez does leave, he will be missed in next season's football games.
"We would be sad to lose him because he is a class player who has worked really hard for the club," the England player added.
