Man Utd make approach for de Gea?
25th May 2011 - Alma Shera
Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the club are close to signing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea.
The team's current shot-stopper Edwin Van der Sar will retire after Saturday's (May 28th) Champions League Final and Ferguson's search for a replacement has been widely reported.
However, it is only now that the manager has revealed the identity of his desired goalkeeper.
Speaking on the topic, Ferguson said: "He is young, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for Van der Sar.
"We've been working on it [the deal] for quite a while."
The goalkeeper's contract contains a €25 million buy-out clause (£22 million), which is set to expire in 2013.
Manchester United will now be focusing all of their attention on Sunday's clash with Barcelona after they ended their domestic season with a 4-2 victory at home against Blackpool.
