Man Utd confirm de Gea signing
29th June 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Manchester United have confirmed that David de Gea has joined the club from Atletico Madrid, after the 20-year-old goalkeeper passed a medical this week.
De Gea is expected to be the replacement for the recently retired Edwin Van der Sar, and has signed a five-year deal to play football games for the Premier League champions.
In an interview with MUTV, De Gea said: "When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you it obviously makes you very, very happy.
"I saw their interest as an extra motivation to work even harder to show off my ability."
De Gea continued by saying that it is a great privilege to be part of the Manchester United team and is keen to show his ability.
The youngster's arrival follows the signings of Ashley Young and Phil Jones, who have arrived at the club from Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
