Liverpool recovery pleases football manager Kenny Dalglish
21st March 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Liverpool football manager Kenny Dalglish was delighted with the way in which his side bounced back from their Europa League disappointment in midweek.
The Reds stumbled out of Europe after drawing a blank in their two legs against SC Braga, but recovered to put in a convincing performance against Sunderland on Sunday (March 20th).
Liverpool benefitted from an incorrect penalty decision to take the lead at the Stadium of Light, but were good value for their 2-0 win after dominating proceedings.
Football manager Dalglish said that considering the disappointment that followed the Braga tie, his players responded well.
"Overall, it was a great effort from our players - we deserved the victory. It is great credit to the players and their determination having worked so hard on Thursday and coming away with nothing," he said.
Liverpool face a difficult challenge to qualify for European soccer games next season, sitting four points behind Tottenham in the table, although the north London side have a game in hand.
