Liverpool have agreed a fee with Sunderland for the midfielder Jordan Henderson, as the Englishman looks set to begin playing football games on Merseyside.
Henderson has been subject to prominent transfer speculation in recent weeks after impressing in his performances for the Black Cats last season.
He played for England Under-21s on Sunday (June 5th) and is now poised to discuss personal terms with Liverpool.
A statement on Sunderland's official website read: "A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield today with the club's blessing."
Liverpool football manager Kenny Dalglish will be hoping that a deal can be finalised before Henderson meets up with England's Under-21 squad on Wednesday ahead of this summer's European Champonships.
Throughout his tenure at Sunderland, Henderson made 72 appearances for the club and scored five goals.
He also enjoyed a loan spell at Coventry, where he played 13 times.
