Kuyt: Downing will be a 'great signing'

Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt believes that his squad's newest recruit Stewart Downing will be a great signing for the club.
Downing has agreed to play football games for the Merseyside team after finalising a transfer from Aston Villa, where he flourished last season as one of the team's most effective attacking outlets.
In an interview with Liverpool's official website, Kuyt said: "I think he will be a great signing. He did very well for Aston Villa last season and I believe he was their best player."
Downing is a very good winger, who can be a very helpful asset for the team, Kuyt also remarked.
The Dutchman also noted that the club now has two good players in "more or less" every position.
In addition to the arrival of Downing, Liverpool recently welcomed Alexander Doni from AS Roma.
The goalkeeper made 179 appearances for the Italian club in six seasons.
