Jose Mourinho accuses Barcelona of card 'cleaning'

14th April 2011 - Chad Lazarus

Real Madrid football manager has begun the mind games ahead of his side's Champions League semi-final with arch rivals Barcelona.

The two clubs will meet four times before the end of the season - twice in Europe, once in the league, and once in the final of the Spanish Cup.

Key Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho will miss the first leg of the European tie after picking up a second yellow card against Tottenham.

However, Mourinho accused Barcelona of deliberately getting Andres Iniesta booked so that he could sit out the second leg of the quarter-final and be free to face Real - a practice he has been sanctioned for by Uefa in the past.

"Maybe you have to find a reason why Mourinho can't clean yellow cards and other clubs can. I can do nothing about it," he said.

"Some teams can clean up their situation with yellow cards and other cannot."
