Gennaro Gattuso loses his head as Tottenham win in Milan
16th February 2011 - Berko Tau
Tottenham secured a priceless 1-0 victory in the first of their Champions League football games against AC Milan.
Peter Crouch scored the game's only goal after 80 minutes of a closely-fought affair, latching on to a counter-attack cross from Aaron Lennon.
However, the match was marred by moments of madness from Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, who twice clashed with Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan.
The Italian grabbed Jordan by the throat an hour into the game, after Jordan was incensed by a Mathieu Flamini challenge on Vedran Corluka.
After the final whistle, Gattuso marched straight over to Jordan and headbutted him.
Speaking afterwards, Gattuso was remorseful for his actions: "I didn't want to argue with players and I did it with him, but I was wrong to do what I have done. I will have to await what [Uefa] decide [regarding punishment]."
This is Tottenham's first campaign in the Champions League, and they will play soccer games in the quarter-finals should they finish the job at White Hart Lane in two weeks time.
