Football manager Roberto Mancini admits to 'mistake'

12th April 2011 - Berko Tau

Football manager Roberto Mancini has admitted he "made a mistake" ahead of Manchester City's game with Liverpool.

The Italian made the claim after seeing his side crushed 3-0 by the Reds at Anfield, with City failing to trouble Liverpool at all.

Mancini's problems were compounded when star striker Carlos Tevez limped off the field with a hamstring injury, one that will keep him out of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.

The football manager refused to confirm exactly what his "mistake" was, but conceded that his team did not start well at all.

"I made a mistake in the last two days, I know why. It is important I understand this for the next game. It was my mistake because we did not prepare very well," he said.

City's loss leaves them in the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot, although Tottenham are just five points behind with a game in hand.
