Football manager Grant sacked as Hammers go down

West Ham sacked their football manager Avram Grant yesterday, after a 3-2 loss against Wigan relegated them to the Championship.
The Hammers were 2-0 ahead in the tie before Wigan fought back and clinched their win in injury time with a goal from Charles N'Zogbia.
Shortly after the match, West Ham announced that the Israeli manager had been relieved of his duties at the football club.
Speaking in a press conference before he was sacked, Grant said: "It is a very sad day for me, I think the most sad day since I started in football almost 40 years ago.
"I came (to the club) with a lot of desire and belief that we could do something here."
West Ham's defeat to Wigan was their sixth in seven soccer matches and has left them at the bottom of the table with 33 points.
