Fabregas is 'calm' over Barca speculation

30th June 2011 - Alma Shera

Cesc Fabregas has described himself as being calm amid speculation that he could soon be playing football games for Barcelona.

Speaking to AS, Fabregas said: "I'm calm and I am optimistic. I have nothing to say and there is nothing to speak of.

"If something happens, it is because it has to happen. For my part, I've begun to get in shape, which is what I have to do."

In previous seasons, speculation has mounted over a potential move to Barcelona, where the Spanish midfielder played in his youth.

Despite interest from the Spanish champions, Arsenal have staunchly attempted to hold onto their captain, though current rumours suggest that the London club may sell their man if their valuation is met.

Arsenal have yet to engage in any substantial transfer activity, with 19-year-old Carl Jenkinson being the club's only signing of the summer thus far.
