England football manager considering John Terry for captaincy
15th March 2011 - Berko Tau
England football manager Fabio Capello is considering restoring Chelsea defender John Terry to the role of England captain.
The 30-year-old was named skipper by Steve McClaren in 2006, and retained the role when Fabio Capello became England football manager in 2008.
However, he was stripped of the armband after allegations of an affair between Terry and the ex-partner of Wayne Bridge hit the tabloids in February 2010.
Rio Ferdinand was then given the role, but injuries have restricted him to just four appearances for the national team during this time and he will again miss the Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales on March 26th.
Foootball manager Capello revealed he is reconsidering Terry for the role after the armband was passed around between a number of players - but not Terry - during the friendly against Denmark.
He said: "I was really upset about what happened in Denmark, when I saw the players saying 'who is the captain?'"
"For that reason I need to make a decision - and it will be a permanent decision, not just one game."
