Could Villas-Boas swap Porto for Chelsea?
20th June 2011 - Chad Lazarus
It has been reported that Porto football manager Andre Villas-Boas is attracting interest from Chelsea, as the London club looks for a successor to Carlo Ancelotti.
Villas-Boas worked closely with ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho prior to the start of his managerial career, sparking widespread comparisons between the two.
This year, Villas-Boas led Porto to the Europa League trophy and now the club's president Pinta Da Costa has confessed that he could possibly depart the Portugese champions.
Da Costa said: "Villas Boas has a contract and a clause of €15million (£13.2 million). If someone deposits €15million into our account and he wants to go, we cannot do anything because it is something that is contractually specified."
Current speculation is pointing towards Villas-Boas taking over as Chelsea manager, while the other main candidate, Carlo Ancelotti, is rumoured to be securing a position as a sporting director of the club.
