Carroll to make Liverpool debut against Man Utd?
3rd March 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish did not give much away to rival football manager Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of Sunday's game against Manchester United.
However, the Reds legend seemed quietly confident and expects Andy Carroll to play a major part in the Anfield-based showdown.
Carroll has not made his debut for the Merseyside squad due to major injury, though the United game has been his target and a multitude of newspaper pieces have claimed the player will be on the bench for the showdown with the league leaders.
Football manager Dalglish added: "We've said all along that we've been delighted with his progress and there hasn't been anything he's done that hasn't been encouraging.
"Whether he's involved on Sunday or not - I'm sure Fergie would love to know but we don't know. He might not even be a substitute - he might be going to see Boyzone!"
The £35 million fee paid by Liverpool for Carroll's transfer from Newcastle United on January 31st is the highest for a British footballer and the eighth-highest for any footballer.
