Barcelona did not deserve to lose against Arsenal, claims Villa
18th February 2011 - Sigvard Magnus
Barcelona hitman David Villa has claimed that his side did not deserve to be on the losing end of their Champions League first-leg tie with Arsenal last night (February 16th).
The Spanish striker opened the scoring of the fixture, which took place at the Emirates Stadium, but goals by Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin gave Arsene Wenger's side a 2-1 advantage at the final whistle.
However, Villa pointed out that, in his estimation, Barcelona should have been ahead more than 1-0 before van Persie grabbed the equaliser.
He commented: "We were better but they hurt us on the counter. We didn't deserve this result."
The striker did give Arsenal players their due though, noting that the London-based side are "a very good team", who took advantage when opportunities came to them.
A close result means that a juicy second-leg is now on the cards when the two clubs meet at the Nou Camp on March 8th.
