Balotelli suffers recurrence of knee injury
2nd June 2011 - Chad Lazarus
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has suffered a recurrence of a knee injury while playing at Italy's training camp.
The 20-year-old required assistance to be taken off the field after he felt pain during a contest against Italy's under-18s.
As a result of the injury, Balotelli is likely to miss his national team's two upcoming football games, which are against Estonia and the Republic of Ireland.
Italy will face Estonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday (June 3rd), while the team's game against the Republic of Ireland is a friendly scheduled for Tuesday (June 7th).
Italy team doctor Enrico Castellacci said: "I'm worried and will get in contact with the medical staff at City."
In January, Balotelli was ruled out of action due to the knee problem, which came after the injury forced him to endure a spell on the sidelines in August.
Balotelli ended his first season at Manchester City with ten goals.
