Ashley Young set to discuss future

6th June 2011 - Sigvard Magnus

Aston Villa's Ashley Young has outlined that he will discuss his future with the club's chairman Randy Lerner.

Speculation over Young's future has been widespread over the last few weeks, with Manchester United and Liverpool believed to be admirers of the 25-year-old, after impressing in his football games for the Midlands club.

With one year left on his contract, Villa may want to sell and cash in on their asset now rather than let him leave on a free transfer next season.

Young said: "As a kid you always want to play in the best competitions. As a kid I wanted to play in the Champions League - and hopefully one day I will."

He also stated that he is approaching 26 and is now coming into his prime.

Young's value was highlighted during England's 2-2 draw with Switzerland on Saturday (June 4th), when he came off the bench to level the game and seal a valuable point for his national side.
