Arsene Wenger calls for focus from Arsenal
14th March 2011 - Sigvard Magnus
Arsenal football manager Arsene Wenger insists his young side must focus on the positives, after being dumped out of their third cup competition in two weeks.
After losses to Birmingham City in the final of the Carling Cup and to Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League, the Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday (March 12th).
Despite playing as many first-team players as he could, football manager Wenger was unable to guide his side past a makeshift United line-up.
However, Wenger insists that there were positives to take from the defeat, while the Premier League title remains an attainable target.
"I don't feel like the season is slipping away. I believe we can do it. It is a good test for us now to show we can regroup and show the mental strength and togetherness quickly," he said.
Arsenal have something of a defensive crisis building, however, as it has been confirmed that centre-back Johan Djourou will be out for the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder in the Old Trafford clash.
