Arsenal preparing to hold talks with Gervinho?

14th June 2011 - Berko Tau

Arsenal and Lille are set to hold discussions regarding a possible move for the French club's striker Gervinho.

Many fans have pushed for Arsenal to bring in new faces this summer, after last season saw the Gunners finish in fourth place.

Lille football manager Frederic Paquet told French radio station RMC: ""He wants to go and has developed contacts with Arsenal.

"He has expressed a desire to go to England. We will soon have talks with them and see what they offer."

Gervinho scored 15 goals last season, which helped to guide Lille to an impressive league and cup double.

If the striker does commit to an Arsenal switch, he will not be the London club's first signing of the summer, as they brought in 19-year-old Carl Jenkinson from Charlton last week.

Jenkinson ordinarily plays in the centre-back position, but can also operate as a full-back.
