Are Arsenal chasing Real Madrid's Karim Benzema with £27m bid?
7th July 2011 - Sigvard Magnus
Arsenal football manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be considering a £27 million bid for Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.
The French 24-year-old could be joined by another new signing in football games next season, with Lille striker Gervinho and Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi also having been linked to the club.
Wenger's first team could have an entirely new look from next season, following the departure of Gael Clichy to Manchester City and rumours that Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are also on the verge of parting company with the Gunners.
Clichy's departure brings an end to a long career under Wenger, which has seen him take part in 264 football games with the London club since arriving in 2003.
"I'm really happy to be joining such a great club. I hope I can add to the quality we already have here because we have a fantastic squad who I believe will continue to get better," the Frenchman noted.
