Aguero asks to leave Atletico Madrid
24th May 2011 - Berko Tau
Argentina international Sergio Aguero has asked to leave Atletico Madrid, which is sure to prompt interest from many of the world's top football managers.
The 22-year-old has scored more than 100 goals for the Spanish team, after he joined from Independiente in 2006.
Speaking on his website, the forward said: "After five intense years a stage in my personal development has ended and I have to move on to a new one.
"I said long ago that when I wanted to go, I would say so publicly."
Aguero is seen by many as one of the brightest young stars in international football, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham among the teams that have been linked with him previously.
His decision to leave Atletico comes despite his decision to extend his contract in January.
The agreement tied the forward to the club until 2014, though his buy-out clause fell from £52 million to £40 million as part of the deal.
