Peter Crouch red card 'put game beyond Spurs'
6th April 2011 - Berko Tau
Tottenham Hotspur football manager Harry Redknapp says his team were set an "impossible task" when Peter Crouch was sent off against Real Madrid.
The striker was dismissed after just 14 minutes of the Champions League quarter-final at the Bernabeu last night (April 5th) for making two rash challenges.
Spurs were already 1-0 down at this point and despite battling bravely, they eventually succumbed to a 4-0 defeat.
Football manager Redknapp insists that the team will do their best in the second leg, but their hopes of progressing any further in the competition are very slim.
"It's not over until it's over but we've got a mountain to climb. It was one of those days where anything that could have gone wrong did go wrong," he explained.
Tottenham are currently competing in their first European Cup campaign since 1961, while Real Madrid are looking to secure their tenth win in Europe's premier club competition.
